The 'Vanity Metric' Trap: Why 'Likes' Don't Pay The Wages
I see it every day. A business owner shows me their Facebook page. "Look Ray," they say. "This post got 200 likes."
My question is always the same: "Can you deposit those likes in the Credit Union?"
Engagement vs. Intent
There is a difference between "Social Noise" and "Commercial Intent."
Social Noise
A picture of your new van. People hit 'like' to be nice.
Commercial Intent
A tool that checks if a homeowner qualifies for a €27,500 retrofit grant.
People don't click 'like' on the Grant Checker. They click 'Submit'. They give you their phone number. They ask for a quote.
The Incrementum Rule
We do not chase applause. We chase invoices. If your marketing strategy is focused on "Brand Awareness," you are burning money. Switch your focus to "Direct Response." Give the customer a tool, a calculator, or an audit.
Stop trying to be an Influencer. Start being a Problem Solver.
